Bio

Chloe Barry is a dancer and choreographer, currently based in Salt Lake City, UT. She earned her BFA in modern dance and BS in geophysics at the University of Utah in May 2023. Chloe’s artistic interests are varied and stem from themes of science, human nature and human rights, identity, and literature and storytelling. She is also a harpist, and has been playing for 15 years. She is currently a member of the Crimson Harps harp ensemble, and her perspective on dance is heavily influenced by music. Chloe is originally from Ames, Iowa, but was drawn to the creative atmosphere of the University of Utah’s dance program and the incredible geology of Utah. Throughout her time at the university she has shown three live works and a screendance. Many of these were part of Student Concert, and entirely student choreographed and produced dance concert. In 2020 she was accepted as a member of the Student Concert Committee, and took on the role of a curator and producer. This gave her valuable experience in concert production and insight into different jobs in the theater such as stage manager, and lighting designer and light board operator. Most recently, Chloe showed her first evening length work, made in collaboration with Nikita Rabbitt, Brianne Corbridge, and Michael Palmer. Chloe has performed in her own works as well in works by Christine McMillan, Daniel Clifton and Satu Hummasti, Laja Field and Martin Durov, Mike Tyus, and Johannes Wieland. She has supplemented her university dance education by attending the 2019 Martha Graham School summer intensive, 2021 LINK audition festival, and b12 summer 2022 and 2023. Chloe would not feel complete without also pursuing her interest in the geosciences. She is primarily interested in volcanoes, and how tools from seismology can be used to study them.
